My Crochet Philosophy
When I am crocheting for myself, I don’t mind being a little Pirates of the Caribbean about standard procedures. Experimentation makes me more creative.

However, when I am making patterns (I call them spells) for sale, I try to make sure that every step is clear and that you can produce the same result I advertise.
One of the things that I find very frustrating about buying patterns made by others, especially on more complex shapes like dragons, the pattern ends up being composed of a lot of simple shapes that are sewn together. For me, this means that stuffing and how stitches happen to line up when I am sewing can look wildly different than what is pictured. So, my patterns are always as low sew as possible.
Additionally, I tend to stay away from the use of wires to stiffen a project. A lot of time, I am crocheting for very young children, so I am not comfortable with the use of wires in the work. Safety eyes are about as much plastic or metal as I will use! Plushes or stuffed animals should be cuddly and squishy, after all!
Why do I call my Crochet Patterns Spells?
Because crochet is magic! You take a piece of metal and some string and you wave the hook around in predictable and practiced movements and the yarn becomes something entirely new, one knot at a time. It’s wonderful! And, what else is crochet if not assembling needed spell components and deciphering the text of a pattern?
